The look I’ll be putting together today is inspired by St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. An outstanding organization, St. Jude should be on the top of the list of anyone looking to support a good cause this year. I love St. Jude because not only did they pick up the torch of children’s welfare they ran with it. St. Jude is a not-for-profit hospital that raises funds in order to completely cover the cost of the care and treatment of the approximately 7,800 patients it treats every year. These patients are all children battling life threating diseases such as cancer and sickle cell disease. While most hospitals obtain the majority of their payment from insurance companies St. Jude provides treatment for diseases that insurance companies rarely cover or don’t cover at all. Donations from caring businesses and individuals, such as yourself, make it possible that these children receive the life-saving care they desperately need while also ensuring that their parents don’t have to worry about paying the bill. But they don’t stop there. They also share the research they’ve conducted with hospitals around the globe so that others may benefit from their work even if they are a patient at another hospital. But to make things even better St. Jude makes the possible ways to donate endless. You can simply donate on their secure website or you can volunteer for one of their many events. There’s something for every age group beginning with pre-k all the way up to adulthood. You can host events at work or sign up for a fun race. You can volunteer on their campus or find a local St. Jude event to help out with. But the best part is that you can submit fundraising ideas to them! They really make it easy to make giving back as fun as possible. The work done by this hospital has increased the overall survival rate of childhood cancer patients from 20% to over 80% today. That is so heart-warming and it is even more incentive to give support to such an incredible cause. After finding a local St. Jude event to support I asked myself, what kind of event would I want to put together if I could? The answer was easy. I’d get all my girlfriends to get all of their girlfriends and we’d do a charity brunch. We could even make it a potluck brunch. Everyone could bring a dish and their favorite wine but most of all their checkbook. It’d be the best reason to get together and day drink I’ve ever had! Then that got me thinking what would I wear? Well, let me just say that this season Zuhair Murad has made answering that question easier than it has ever been. I may honestly have to do a series just highlighting pieces from his 2016 Resort collection alone. But to this event I’d be wearing this long-sleeved, sequined, floral detail embellished romper. So sexy. So classy. So…me! Just soak it all in. This piece needs no further explanation.
Of course any classic Chanel bag would go great with it. Chanel goes with everything. I’m thinking one of these blush or champagne numbers would bring out the colors in the flowers nicely. If I’m looking for a more subtle approach I’m going with the black. For drama I’ve added this fringe Burberry option. This bag is so on trend and classic at the same time. I sound like my mother but styles really do come around in cycles.
I love these black, strappy, suede wedges by Steve Madden. Wedges are great because the shape of the sole usually makes for more comfort as opposed to wearing a high heeled pump. But if we’re going to go the high heel route I have got to throw in this Prada option. They are so unique and the flowers on the back are subtle enough to add nice decoration without going over the top. I also think this romper would look lovely with a nice bootie. These black suede and gold booties are gorgeous. That gold detail really helps tie in the flowers.
We can’t forget about the details. I’m picking something neutral for my nails so the outfit stands out. I like this almond shaped, nude manicure. This color is classy and there are fun decorations to ensure it’s not too bland. But if I really want to go mute I’m picking these one toned, short nails. They scream understated. For a fun twist I am really in love with gradient or ombre nails right now. Here are some I found on www.pinterest.com as featured on www.latina.com.
I could go on and on about this look and great options to pair it with. This RTW beauty is look number 32 at www.zuhairmurad.com. Visit the site to find boutiques that sell it. Got any ideas for cool fundraisers? Share them below. How would you style this garment?
